I noticed a neighbor’s window box during a mid-October walk. Its crimson & red flowers were doing their best to hold off against the change of seasons. But they were definitely showing fatigue.
The shingle siding seems to frame the window and flower box, making them look like a piece of installation art.
Since this was the shaded side of the house, I brightened both the window frame and the flowers. But because I wanted to create a melancholy piece, I didn’t brighten the colors as much as I normally would.
Finally, because I shot the image looking slightly upward, I squared up the window and siding. It seemed to make the image more abstract, than architecturally correct. Which again was a bonus.
